I have extensive experience working as a Psychotherapist and Art Therapist since 1996. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from York University and a Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. I am licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and am a registered member of the Ontario Art Therapy Association. Over the past 17 years, I have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, hospitals, schools, and multidisciplinary centres.
I provide individual, family and group therapy and use elements of cognitive behaviour therapy, solution focused therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I using talk therapy, art therapy or a combination of both, depending on the needs and goals of each client. My mission is to help clients address and explore their issues and concerns, and work together to develop skills and strategies towards achieving their goals, and a greater quality of life. This may include improving interpersonal skills, resolving conflicts, strengthening relationships, reducing stress, increasing self-esteem and self-awareness, managing emotions and behaviours, and enhancing or learning new coping strategies. I have found that art often aids in communication during the therapy process, helping bring light to issues that are sometimes hidden or difficult to discuss, allowing for greater clarity, self-discovery, awareness and insight, that is not always found in talk therapy alone.
Areas of Practice: Adults/Adolescents, depression, anxiety, ADHD, highly sensitive nature, separation/divorce, eating disorders, trauma, family/relationship issues, self-esteem.
