I’m both a Registered Social Worker & Registered Dietitian working in the area of mental health, predominantly with adolescents (17+) and adults struggling with eating disorders/disordered eating, body image issues, emotional eating and the many co-occurring issues that often accompany these difficulties. Therefore, I also see clients who are struggling with stress, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma. I have worked in a private practice setting since 1996, and for 26 years, I worked in an intensive adult treatment centre for eating disorders at the Toronto General Hospital (UHN inpatient & day hospital programs).
I foster a client-centered, caring & collaborative environment, with the aim of building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. I help people achieve their goals and regain a sense of well being & balance; by changing unhelpful thinking patterns, managing difficult emotions and building new coping skills. My approach is eclectic in nature. I draw on tools/skills from various therapies that are tailored for each client’s needs. This includes cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing, emotion focused therapy, and structural family therapy. Regardless, of the treatment model, I strive to provide a warm & empathic approach that fosters and builds on peoples’ strengths. My practice is LGBTQ positive, trauma-informed & weight inclusive.
I am a member of both the Ontario College of Dietitians and the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
Areas of Practice: Adults/Adolescents, eating disorders, body image, body dysmorphia, anxiety, mood, self esteem, trauma, relationship issues.
