Lisa Hoffman, RD, MSW, RSW
Areas of Practice: Adults/Adolescents; eating disorders, body image, body dysmorphia, anxiety, mood, self-esteem, trauma, relationship issues.
I’m both a Registered Social Worker & Registered Dietitian working in the area of mental health, providing eating disorder treatment to adolescents (17+) and adults. I also provide help for those struggling with body image issues, emotional eating, and the many co-occurring issues that often accompany these difficulties such as stress, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma. I have worked in a private practice setting since 1996, and for 26 years, I worked in an intensive adult treatment centre for eating disorders at the Toronto General Hospital (UHN inpatient & day hospital programs).
I foster a client-centered, caring & collaborative environment, with the aim of building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. I help people achieve their goals and regain a sense of well-being & balance; by changing unhelpful thinking patterns, managing difficult emotions and building new coping skills. My approach is eclectic in nature. I draw on tools/skills from various therapies that are tailored to each client’s needs. This includes cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing, emotion-focused therapy, and structural family therapy. Regardless, of the treatment model, I strive to provide a warm & empathic approach that fosters and builds on peoples’ strengths. My practice is LGBTQ-positive, trauma-informed & weight inclusive.
I am a member of both the Ontario College of Dietitians and the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
